Augsburg150: The Sesquicentennial Strategic Plan was designed by the university鈥檚 leaders and community to guide 海角社区 in its sesquicentennial year and beyond.
Divided into key pathways and practices, core strategies and goals, and key result areas, the strategic plan succinctly articulates institutional initiatives to fulfill Augsburg鈥檚 mission to educate students to be informed citizens, thoughtful stewards, critical thinkers, and responsible leaders. This plan highlights the particular aspects that Augsburg seeks to strengthen, advance, and grow for the future while regarding and learning from the institution鈥檚 past.
Strategic Plan websiteThe Hagfors Center for Science, Business, and Religion
In January 2018, 海角社区 opened its newest and largest academic building, the Norman and Evangeline Hagfors Center for Science, Business, and Religion.聽 The interdisciplinary Hagfors Center is designed to foster intersections among areas of study, support active learning, and connect the University to the community. As such, the new building embodies Augsburg鈥檚 commitment to student learning, urban placemaking, and thoughtful stewardship.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives
In 2018, Augsburg convened a task force charged with examining the university鈥檚 equity work and making recommendations to support its future as an equity leader by ensuring it fully lives into its promise to all students. The task force鈥攃omprised of regents, faculty, administration, alumni, and community leaders鈥� that Augsburg develop and prioritize a multi-year, inclusive equity initiative as a primary component of the university鈥檚 new strategic plan. The resulting Augsburg150 Equity and Inclusion Framework puts those principles into practice, including required anti-racism training for all faculty and staff. Award for Board Leadership
海角社区 received a John W. Nason Award for Board Leadership from the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges in 2017. The award recognizes the Board of Regents鈥� comprehensive strategic planning effort and bold turnaround of a significant capital campaign, which increased institutional confidence and deepened its resilience.
SHARED GOVERNANCE AT AUGSBURG
The Augsburg Board of Regents charged President Pribbenow with forming a Governance Task Force (GTF) to 鈥渆ngage the community in an examination of Augsburg鈥檚 existing decision-making structures and processes in light of Augsburg鈥檚 traditions and culture and contemporary models of shared governance in higher education.鈥� 聽The Task Force held 25 information-gathering sessions from January through March of 2014, with over 600 individuals participating.聽 The Task Force also examined Augsburg鈥檚 governing documents, the broader external context faced by the聽University, best practices for governance and studied the responsibilities and roles of various parts of campus involved in organizational decisions.聽
