Gabriela Monge Lagunes ’15 makes strides with AchieveMpls, Augsburg College

AchieveMpls,聽a Minneapolis-based nonprofit supporting high schoolers, featured Gabriela Monge Lagunes ’15聽in an article about聽her success as a student and an advocate.

Monge Lagunes, who is a first generation college student, says she has teachers to thank for catapulting her into聽college and supporting her once admitted.

AchieveMpls is a nonprofit organization started in 2002 by Twin Cities education, business, government, and civic leaders. The organization aims to bridge the gap between high school and college, better preparing students for success.

Delissa Hernandez ’14 discusses student debt with MPCC

Delissa Hernandez ’14 was profiled in the Minnesota Private College Council newsletter in November.

Hernandez, who was the first of her family to enroll in college,聽was interviewed about the pros and cons associated with聽paying for a college education.

Although she received financial aid as a first generation student, she will have student debt after graduation. Hernandez said she isn’t worried聽about the debt as she believes the benefits of聽gaining a college education聽far outweigh the costs. “I already see how worth it this investment truly is,” she聽said.
