Sociology majors are highly active and engaged beyond the classroom, whether it is with student organizations or hands-on research and community engagement opportunities. All of these activities\u2014together with classroom experiences\u2014prepare our future alums for exciting and meaningful careers.<\/p>\n

In this section, you can learn more about career opportunities for sociology majors<\/a>, our international honor society\u00a0Alpha Kappa Delta<\/a>, and Augsburg’s own\u00a0club for sociology and urban studies<\/a>. In addition, check out what our Torstenson Community Scholars<\/a> are up to and find out more about funded research opportunities available through the McNair Scholars Program<\/a> and URGO<\/a> (Undergraduate Research and Graduate Opportunities). We have a long and successful history of students working closely with faculty on research projects through these different programs.<\/p>\n

Finally, Augsburg often hosts nationally recognized sociologists, such as Elijah Anderson, who spoke at the Nobel Peace Prize Forum hosted by º£½ÇÉçÇø, and Matthew Desmond, whose book\u00a0Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City<\/em> won the Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction in 2017.<\/p>\n
