Lindberg is professor emeritus of church history at Boston University School of Theology. He is a renowned scholar of early modern history; his work has focused on the political implications of Reformation thought and the Church鈥檚 interaction with society at large. He studied at Augustana College, Rock Island, Ill., and Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago, and earned a PhD in Reformation history at the University of Iowa. He is also author of a number of books on the Reformation.

Augsburg鈥檚 Founders’ Day Lectures features themes of the Augsburg Confession and early Reformation themes. This annual two-part lecture is connected to observance of Founders鈥� Day on Nov. 10 and is sponsored by the Office of the President in collaboration with the Religion Department.
